25 December1959 Ringo receives his first drum kit, as a Christmas present. 1962 The Beatles, in Hamburg, Germany for their final Star-Club engagement, have the night off from performing. 1963 The flight hired by Brian takes the Christmas Show bill back from Liverpool, in time for this day's performance. "Beatles Christmas Show" at the Finsbury Park Astoria, London. "She Loves You", 17th week in the Top 10 (UK New Musical Express chart). Please Please Me LP, 40th week in the Top 10 (UK New Musical Express chart). With The Beatles number 1, 5th week (UK New Musical Express chart). "I Want To Hold Your Hand" number 1, 4th week (UK New Musical Express chart). 1965 George asks Pattie to marry him, when they go by car to a celebration dinner in London. Rubber Soul number 1 (UK Record Retailer chart). Appearance on BBC-radio's "Saturday Club". 1967 Official announcement of Paul and Jane's engagement. 1968 A promotional film for "Lady Madonna" is broadcast in black and white on UK television, on the BBC1 program "Top of the Pops '68". The video portion of the film clip was shot while The Beatles were performing the song "Hey Bulldog", but the "Lady Madonna" audio track was paired with the video for the promo release. It won't be until 1999 that the video is broadcast with its original "Hey Bulldog" soundtrack. 1970 At the Kolnischer Kunstverein in Cologne, West Germany, the exhibition of Yoko's work "Happening And Fluxus" is shown. Robin Cruikshank presents Maureen a few mercury filled persplex dishes for Christmas. This gift gives Ringo the idea that will become the design company Ringo O'Robin Ltd. 1971 Radio Luxembourg votes Imagine as "Album Of The Year" and "My Sweet Lord" as "Best Single Of The Year". 1972 Keith Moon surprises Ringo and Maureen by appearing unannounced at Tittenhurst Park dressed as Father Christmas and accompanied by a seigh pulled by reindeer. 1973 In New York, Yoko performs a special solo concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. 1975 In New York, the Beacon Theater presents the film "Celebration Of The Beatles", featuring archive newsreels, live clips and excerpts from BBC and US TV specials. 1976 "Melody Maker" publishes a report that the Beatles' Hamburg tapes will be released as a double album early next year. UK re-release of George Harrison single 'My Sweet Lord/What Is Life' (Apple). 1977 In Los Angeles, an exhibition of Linda's photographs is on display at the Jan Baum and Iris Silverman Gallery. In New York, Julian visits his father to celebrate Christmas. They are seen seighing in the snow in Central Park. 1979 In the UK, BBC2 transmits the penultimate film "A Hard Day's Night" for their "The Beatles At Christmas" season. As a Christmas present, Paul purchases for Linda an 80 acre ranch in Arizona. 1982 The John Lennon Collection number 1 (UK New Musical Express chart). Yoko pens the a piece entitled "Surrender To Peace", which she recalls her foundation of Nutopia with John on April 1, 1973. Radio Luxembourg transmits "The Paul McCartney Interview". 1983 In Los Angeles, the Linda exhibition "Photographs" is displayed at the Molly Barnes Gallery. In Europe, a pre-recorded interview with Paul is transmitted on the German BFBS Radio station. 1984 In the UK, the ITV network station TV AM airs a pre-recorded Christmas message from Paul. The ITV Network program "Top Pop Videos Of 1984" features another Christmas message from Paul and the promo video for "We All Stand Together". 1985 In the UK, TV AM transmits a taped video message from Paul, wishing viewers a Happy Christmas, on the "Caring Christmas Campaign" program. 1986 BBC1 transmits a brief phone message from Paul to Noel Edmonds' morning program. 1987 The "Beatle City" exhibition runs at the West End marketplace in Dallas, Texas. In Italy, the RAI UNO TV program "Canale Fantastico" broadcasts a Christmas message from Paul and Linda. The RAI TV show "Ieri Goggi Domina" airs a pre-recorded interview with Paul. In the UK, the BBC1 show "Christmas Morning With Noel transmits a Christmas message from Paul and Linda. 1995 In the US, ABC TV broadcast the Christmas Day Beatles special "With A Little Help From My Friends". 1997 At the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford, Yoko's art exhibition "Have You Seen The Horizon Lately" is on display. In Europe, Channel 5 transmits the television premiere of Paul's "Standing Stone" concert. 1998 In Washington, D.C., an exhibition of Beatles photographs taken by Harry Benson is on display at the Govinda Gallery. In the UK, BBC2 transmits part one of a two-part "Arena" profile on Brian Epstein. 1999 In Tampa, Florida, the exhibition of Linda's pictures entitled "Sixties" is on display at the Tampa Museum of Art. EMI Records anticipate a Christmas release of "The Best Of The Beatles" on home video and CD. In the US, reports circulate that Ringo will release a new Christmas album. 2000 The Beatles' compilation album "1" is #1 in Sweden for a 5th week. The album is also #1 in Germany and Norway.
